Early morning drive to Bomdila (9 hours through stunning mountain roads). Cross into Arunachal Pradesh (ILP check). Arrive and visit the Bomdila Monastery and local craft centre.
Drive to Tawang (6 hours) via the breathtaking Sela Pass at 13,700 feet — snow-covered in winter! Stop at Jaswant Garh War Memorial. Arrive in Tawang by evening.
Visit Tawang Monastery — India's largest Buddhist monastery and 2nd largest in the world after Lhasa. Explore the Tawang War Memorial (honouring 1962 war heroes) and the local markets.
Day trip to the enchanting Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake) — a pristine lake formed by the 1950 earthquake. Optional visit to Bumla Pass (Indo-China border, subject to Army permission).
Return drive to Bomdila via Sela Pass (one last look at the stunning scenery). Evening relax and enjoy local Monpa cuisine.
