Best Time to Visit Kerala: Season-by-Season Guide
Kerala, God's Own Country, welcomes visitors throughout the year. But the best time depends on what you want to experience.
October to February (Peak Season) ❄️
This is the best time to visit Kerala for most tourists. The weather is pleasant (20-32°C), humidity is low, and the skies are clear.
Best for: Houseboat cruises, beach holidays, wildlife spotting at Periyar, hill station visits to Munnar.
Tip: Book at least 2 months in advance as this is peak season and hotels fill up fast!
June to September (Monsoon Season) 🌧️
Kerala during the monsoon is a completely different — and magical — experience. The state turns lush green, waterfalls are at their most spectacular, and the famous Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatments are at their best during this season.
Best for: Ayurvedic treatments (Panchakarma), waterfall visits, budget travellers (prices drop 30-40%), photography.
What to expect: Heavy rain, some roads may be blocked, limited outdoor activities on certain days.
March to May (Summer) ☀️
Summer in Kerala is hot and humid in the lowlands, but the hill stations like Munnar and Wayanad offer a cool escape.
Best for: Hill station getaways, tea garden visits, wildlife parks (animals come to water sources), budget travel (off-season rates).
